If it’s hip;
If it grooves;
If it rocks;
If it moves you,
It’s on the song list.
It’s that simple.
The British Invasion groups and the American bands from this side of the Pond exploded on the scene in the ‘60s with a sound that was mod and fab, both upbeat and edgy. In the ‘70s the musical landscape was as colorful as the fashions. The music made you feel something, turned you on and set you free. From The Mamas & The Papas, the Beatles and the Byrds; to the Doors, Deep Purple, the Monkees and Elton John - ballads and “bubble gum” grooved alongside rock ‘n’ roll anthems and the music of peace.
In the ‘80s, The Cars, the Go-Gos, Simple Minds, U2, REM and a whole crop of pop/rock bands emerged from the musical remnants of the Mod Generation. New Wave, Power Pop and high-energy dance ruled. We couldn't leave this stuff out.
The acousti-pop bands of the ‘90s carried the torch into the next decade. Today, Green Day and a host of kindred musical spirits continue to light the way.
And the beat goes on...
